Routine Telephone Appointments
You can now speak to our doctors by telephone Monday to Friday. If you require an urgent telephone appointment, please request it as early in the day as possible. Routine telephone appointments for a specific doctor can be pre-booked.
Routine telephone appointments can also be useful for our patients to discuss the blood results or scan results instead of coming to the surgery.

This service provides self-management advice for a wide range of issues and allows you to get GP feedback within 24 working hours without leaving the comfort of your home.
One appointment = one problem, one patient
We kindly ask that all patients try and stick to our "one problem per consultation" policy. The main reason for this request is for clinical safety.
We know that getting an appointment with the doctor is sometimes difficult and that some patients "save" their problems and present them to the doctor at the same time, with or without a list. We also know that the clinician may run late. All of this increases the tendency for patients to present multiple problems to their doctor/nurse at one consultation.
Each appointment is only 10 minutes and that is not a lot of time. Presenting with multiple problems means that there is a real increased risk that mistakes can be made and things can be missed as clinician may be inclined to rush, particularly if other patients are waiting. One of Primary Care's main purposes is to detect serious disease early. Presenting multiple problems to the clinician, not all of which may be serious, increases the difficulty of this task - it is like finding the "needle in a haystack".
Please note that your appointment is for you only. Please do not ask the doctor to deal with the problems of a child or other relative in the same appointment slot. Please make a separate appointment for your child/relative if they need to be seen as well.
Doctors cannot see huge numbers of patients with multiple problems and continue to practice safely and effectively. A stressed doctor will struggle to be good and safe doctor. We do consider that GP appointments are a limited resource and we would kindly ask that such a service be used with care and consideration.
Therefore, please do not be offended if the doctor asks you to rebook for your other problems. We are working in your best interests in order to keep you safe. We would always encourage patients to book double appointments if there are multiple problems that need discussing.
GP Health Hubs are available for our patients when our appointments are full. Patients can see a GP who will have access to the patient records (after getting consent from the patients).
Appointments in these Health Hubs can be provided from 18:30 up to 22:00. The Health Hubs are open all day on the weekends and on Bank Holidays.
These GP Health Hubs are located in Barking Hospital, Broad Street, Newbury Park Health Centre and Fullwell Cross.

Not Registered for Online Services?
We request that our patients come into the surgery if possible as multiple patients can be seen in the practice in the time it takes to do a home visit. If you are not able to attend the surgery due to your condition, you can request a home visit. Please ring the surgery as early as possible to arrange a home visit, which are normally done in the afternoon.
You will need to confirm your contact details for the home visit such as your address.
The receptionists may ask for your condition so please be ready to describe it so that we can visit the most urgent cases first.
The doctor may decide that it would be best to speak with you in the surgery immediately, so please be prepared to go to the surgery in such a case.
Late/Unattended Appointment Policy
Unfortunately, we regularly have patients attending their appointments late or not attending at all. As we try to offer as many appointments as possible, we started to have a stricter policy on people regularly not attending their booked appointments and may have to take these patients off our list. This will help us to provide more appointments to the other patients who need them.
We strive to deal with each medical problem to the highest standard and this proves to be impossible if we patients attend late. We understand that sometimes our clinics run late as we may deal with complex issues for individual patients. As we manage the clinics, if we regularly see patients who come late then it affects how the doctors manage other patients.
We now have a strict policy about patients coming in late for their appointments. If any patient comes in more than 10 minutes after their appointment time, the doctor may not see them or ask patient to wait to be seen whenever possible between the other patients.
